We have lots of beautiful cats, kittens and dogs up for adoption at our SPCA shelter located in Coughlan Road.Waipukurau.
Call in and meet our friendly volunteer staff and animals.Check out the attached pics of just some of our residents who need loving homes.
We also have an Op shop across from Woolworths in Ruataniwha Street with plenty of good quality used clothing and bric a brac items for sale. This shop funds our shelter and keeps us going, please support us and call in.
If you want to report any animal abuse or neglect please call us or ring David Stiles at the Council 8588195.If your dog has gone missing call David at the council and us.
Have a look at this video clip from Jayne Sparr (who updates this SPCA page and does lots of good things at the shelter). It shows an abandoned lamb being resuscitated by Jayne's cats (well, particularly one of them) until it shows signs of revival. I'll get Jayne to comment further...

My Dad brought this lamb to me in the hope I could save it.The mother had rejected it and left him to die. When I got him he was close to death, the inside of his mouth was very cold and he was hardly responding.I got him warm as I could and tried feeding him but he was too weak so while he was laying in the front of my heater,Jenny my cat came along and began nestling him and trying to bring him round and nudging him till he finally lifted his head. She had been doing this for a good half hour or so till he responded. My dog Arthur was close by as well and Gracie another of my cats.Soon after I tried him with a bottle again and he was away drinking. This really touched my heart and made me realise how powerful animal love is.He's doing really well now and a very healthy happy wee lamb.
