ADJUSTING THE TEXT SIZE

You can control the size of the way in which the pages are displayed by using Control+ to make things bigger or Control- to make them smaller. Press the Control key and 0 (zero) to restore your display to the default sizes.

CHOOSING A USERNAME

The system will accept just about any sort of input for a username. You may have noticed that some members are using their full name rendered in lowercase letters while others are also using their full names written conventionally. Still others have opted to use a nom-de-plume.

TYPES OF CONTENT YOU CAN ADD

As an authenticated member of CHB.NET you can add new material of the following types: a BLOG, (web log diary entry), place a CLASSIFIED ADVERTISEMENT, list a forthcoming EVENT on the Upcoming Events calendar, you can start A NEW FORUM DISCUSSION, you can upload PICTURES to existing galleries and you can add to the RECIPES database. As the project matures we anticpate adding other content types for your pleasure. Note, too, that you can in many areas post comments and feedback on other posted material.

QUICKLY LOCATING ITEMS YOU HAVE POSTED

The quickest way to find items you have added to the site in order that you can edit or delete them is to go first to the My account page. Clicking on the Track tab will present you with a list of all of your items. Clicking a title will load that item ready for you to edit or delete.

SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION

Do make use of the Search function to find what you are looking for. If you are adding new material, the content will be findable in a search after 1 hour once a cycle of automated maintenance tasks has been completed.

ADDING A PICTURE TO YOUR POST

While in the editor screen (that part where you can type text and format it with button controls) you will see upper right a little blue camera. Position the text cursor where you want the picture to appear, then click the camera. A pop-up window will open. Use the upload button to navigate through to where the picture is stored on YOUR computer, select that file. Please type an name the system can use to identify yor pic then scroll down to the bottom of the window. Click 'submit'. After a few seconds the pic will appear in the pop-up window indicating it has been uploaded. Just a couple more things to do. Select original size if your pic is around 600 pixels square otherwise, if bigger, chose 'thumbnail'. Then click left-align or centre from the dropdown menu, then click 'submit'. Your picture will appear together with your text. Finally, remember to scroll to the bottom of the edit screen and click 'submit' a final time to save your work. Easy, eh !!

GETTING A PAGE ON CHB.NET

In addition to the member facilities on this site (Free classified advertising, blogs, forums, event calendar, messaging etc) you can get your own personal page, or a community organisation page or one for a commercial business. Non-profit organisations may have a page without cost; there is a modest charge for personal and commercial pages. A big plus on CHB.NET is that YOU maintain the content of your page. You can do this from any computer connected to the internet.
