Aramoana Woolshed-What's happening now!
Just when we thought it had all gone quiet and we assumed that the CHBDC was taking community objection and other problematical factors into account with regard to the whole Woolshed deal, it emerges that there are further contentious developments on the horizon.
For one, it appears that at least one ratepayer objector to the scheme ......(no, not me) will be seeking advice from the government ministries whose interest and oversight may be appropriate to
keeping an eye on what appears to be going on here.
Secondly, there is some evidence to suggest that either formally, or informally, The Woolshed is/has been used as an educational facility in conjunction with the nearby marine reserve.
If that is in fact what is happening, has there been an Educational/OSH clearance for the use of the building itself to be used for that purpose? If there is truth to that asertion, one expects that, formally or informally, use a facility for a classroom and that is what it will be. If it waddles has a bill and feathers and quacks like a duck, then it is a duck!
I think that it is about time that council made a formal news release through our local papers, regarding where council is on its deliberations on this matter.
There will be more than a few noses put out of joint , if counsel, with no further public consultation,
suddenly emerges with a statement, simply saying that it has considered all of the issues and an ammended contract to engage in the scheme has been accepted.
I guess that it puts our local papers between a rock and a hard place, but they need to seek a statement from council ..like now! Local papers are not, or should not be a propaganda tool for
councils, even to the point of helping councils to create an opaque enviroment on such issues so that
the later can machinate in camera out of the gaze of their constituents.
